In 2020, the world marked the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. Since climate change poses by far the greatest challenge to the future of humankind, the Croatian Web Archive and the Official Publications Collection of the National and University Library in Zagreb jointly selected environmental protection-related websites to be included in the collection.

The included content covers a wide range of issues in the field of environmental protection, from climate change, energy efficiency and waste management to industrial pollution management, water protection, recycling and the like, and also presents various ongoing environmental programmes, projects, initiatives and movements. Apart from the websites of the bodies of the Croatian government administration, departments of the Government of the Republic of Croatia (ministries), organisations of state administration, economic, cultural, educational, research and sport institutions, the collection includes the websites of institutions dealing with or advocating and promoting environmental protection and other related bodies and associations in the Republic of Croatia, as well as news sites.

Resources in the collection were harvested as part of a crawl performed on 10th December 2021, resulting in 345 collected URLs, totalling 178 GB of data.
